The Gabriel Network has had the privilege to serve many pregnant women in need over the years. Here are just a few words from several of our former clients* who have received assistance through the variety of programs and services we offer. "I was 20 years old and living with my parents when I got pregnant. They tried to get me to abort my baby but I refused. I contacted one of the priests at my church and he referred me to The Gabriel Network. I was placed in a Gabriel Network maternity home and given a wonderful room. I received emergency transportation, an "Angel Friend" and items for my baby and me. Through The Gabriel Network, I have learned that God answers prayer!" - Nadali
"I was six months pregnant with my third child in four years. I had no job, no food to feed my children and was praying daily for help because I realized I could not do it alone. I got connected with The Gabriel Network and moved into the transitional maternity home in Ellicott City. I was able to go to school, get my driver’s license and even a car! Thank you Gabriel Network…but most of all, thanks for caring.” - Latoya "My name is Heather. I am 22 years old. When I was 21, I had a little baby boy I named Adam. It was hard being a single mother. Living at home was a really big help to me because I had my parents but I needed more assistance than that. I had prayed that someone would help my family and my son and then The Gabriel Network came along. Thank you so much for everything you have done for me and my son…and for looking out for us.” - Heather
Not Every Situation is the Same... "I am 38 years old, a high school drop out and have been self-employed for the better part of my life. I have three grown children and never planned to have more. However, in 2007, I became pregnant. Work was slow and I was really sick during my pregnancy. I went to my local Birthright to see about some maternity clothes and met a very kind woman who works with The Gabriel Network as an Angel Friend. Not only did she help me financially through my pregnancy, but she also became a very good friend. You see, I was dealing with domestic violence issues because my husband is bipolar. I had my baby girl six weeks early but because of the love and support I received from my Angel Friend, I felt ready to start motherhood all over again. A couple of months after my little girl was born, my husband had to be removed from our home due to his abuse and I was left alone. I found out soon after, that as a result of my abuse. I was again pregnant...this time with twins. I felt as though I wanted to die. I was so confused and considered abortion. How was I going to financially or mentally take care of yet another baby? Again, my Angel Friend was there for me and helped me to make the better decision to keep my baby. This past year was full of problems and issues...from nearly losing my housing to losing one of my twin babies. But because of the support I received from my Angel Friend and other people from The Gabriel Network who stepped up and helped me and because of the love of God, I was able to pull through some very trying times. I have since made the decision to go back to school so I can become more self-sufficient. I want a better life for my children. And my Angel Friend is still there...supporting me in my decisions and helping me to keep my spirits up. She’s not just The Gabriel Network to me...she is my friend. My family and I have a lot to be thankful for and I thank God everyday for bringing her into my life." _____________________________________________________________ All Gabriel Network services are free, absolutely confidential, and available to any pregnant woman regardless of race, religion, creed or economic status.
